Somewhat analogous to the sun as it warms the earth's temperature which can be measured by a thermometer, the hypothalamus regulates the body temperature which can be measured by a Biodot. A Biodot is like a miniature thermometer and can measure the the change in temperature at the surface of the skin. Try this experiment. Place a Biodot on the vie of the hand. .Wear your Biodot and note every hour during day and evening the change in color. What relationship, if any, do you see between the color of the Biodot change and the invisible ghost of stress?
Wait a few minutes and once the steady color shows, place a check under the color of the chart below. For the remainder of the day chart your color every hour. Note the color change. What is the relationship between the color change and stress, stressors? What are some of the limitations of the Biodot as it relates to measuring stress? You may wish to chart this every day for a week, or so, to get the general pattern of your stressors. You may purchase Biodots from the college book store, or request them from your instructor.
